what is going on here?

[disc five] is a blog about musicians that you should be listening to. Every other week, we post interviews with musicians, and they talk about home studios, self-released concept albums, thrifted synths, four-tracks, home tape duplication, and more. And some other music stuff (and maybe non-music stuff) will get posted here, too.

This is a humble little project from Jenn Coulter, who you may or may not know from her time as editor-in-chief at Left of the Dial, or maybe from when she wrote reviews of erotic flash games at Teh Ben, or maybe from her passionate blog reviews of anime eyebrows, or maybe from an overly confessional letterboxd review.

(sorry, fake third-person POV. jenn is me, and i'm the only person here so obviously i'm the one writing this)

The Internet has made everything more accessible than ever - but it gets buried under clickbait and AI slop and press releases hastily written by underpaid /overworked interns. None of that here - I just want to share all the cool music I've found and talk with the people who made it. I hope you like it.

Ideally, this site will grow and I’ll be able to commission writers. Right now, that’s not a possibility - but watch this space (or whatever) because I would love to work with writers who want to tell the world about their favorite independent musician.

And if you are an independent musician, please - send me your stuff! I would love to cover you!!!!!!!!

I'm the only person writing here right now, and it's not my full-time job, so there’s no guarantee that I’ll be able to cover what you send me. But I’ll check out everything I can.
